A Midsummer Nights Dream

Chapterhouse Theatre Company returns once again with Shakespeare’s much-loved romantic comedy. Settle in for a story that explores love, innocence, and identity, and meet star-crossed lovers, a riotous troupe of travelling players, and the King and Queen of the fairies who live in an enchanted forest outside the walls of the city of Athens. Elizabethan costumes, an original musical score, and woodland creatures come together to make an evening of unmissable summer garden theatre, set under the haze and glow of the setting sun.

Bronagh, Enniskillen Castle, "Superb. Your actors performed it brilliantly. We were all mesmerised!"

Krystyna, Kew at Wakehurst, "Such a funny, human, innovative splendid performance... thank you for the midsummer magic!"

Joe, National Botanic Gardens Dublin, "I really enjoyed seeing this outdoors in lovely gardens. Kids were a big part of the audience and everyone was relaxed and able to enjoy the lovely language. The actors, sets and music brought the play to life in a lovely way."

Carol, Quarry Bank Mill, "Entertaining and professional. The best performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream I have ever seen."

Little Women

Chapterhouse Theatre Company is proud to bring back Laura Turner’s adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women for the second time, after the production received excellent reviews from audiences upon its Chapterhouse debut in 2018.

Step into life during Civil War era America, where the four March sisters – Jo, Beth, Meg, and Amy – navigate friendship, poverty, and domestic hardship. At the heart of this story is a quest for personal identity, and the struggle these young women face in finding their place in the world. How do we grow and adapt to the world around us, and what can we learn from this? Join Chapterhouse this summer to find out...

Alison, Belton House, "A brilliant performance set in gorgeous surroundings. I wasn't the only one suffering with watery eyes!"

Ursula, Buxton Pavilion Arts Centre, "Absolutely fantastic, simple, honest and just magical. Generations of women (and men!) enjoying such a timeless classic. Just wonderful."

Antonia, Lytham Hall (for Big Issue North), "An entertaining and engaging production."

HMS Pinafore by Gilbert & Sullivan

Set on board the warship HMS Pinafore, the opera cheerfully mocks such Great British institutions as class, patriotism and the Royal Navy.

Josephine the captain's daughter is in love with Ralph a common sailor, but her father wants her to marry Sir Joseph Porter, First Lord of the Admiralty. The couple are caught as they elope from the ship and Ralph is locked in the ship's dungeon. Only when certain revelations are made by Buttercup, a dockside vendor, can everyone end up freely marrying their true hearts' loves.

This wonderful comic opera gets the complete Illyria treatment, faithfully performed by a reduced cast on a beautiful nautical set.
