Jethro Tull

Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull band are one of the world's most successful and enduring progressive rock bands. At the beginning of February 1968 Jethro Tull first appeared under that name at the famous Marquee Club in Wardour Street, London. Quickly building a following there and at the many other small blues clubs and pub venues up and down England, the band came to broader media and public recognition at the Sunbury Jazz and Blues Festival in the summer of 1968 where they were the surprise hit of the occasion.

Tull recorded with the original lineup of Anderson, Cornick, Bunker and Abrahams and released their first album This Was on the Island label later that year. After the departure of Mick Abrahams and his replacement by Martin Barre, another thirty or so musicians would form the ranks over the decades, some staying for a few months; some for the longer haul.

Although Ian Anderson uses his own real name these days in conjunction with the Tull performances and repertoire, the Jethro Tull brand has endured to this day and as writer, producer, flautist, vocalist and occasional guitarist, Anderson performs with the band typically 80 – 100 shows each year in many countries of the world.

This tour will draw heavily on material from the more "prog" albums, some of it focusing on the earlier formative period through to the “heavy hitters” of the Tull catalogue from the albums Stand Up, Benefit, Aqualung, Thick As A Brick, Passion Play and even a touch of TAAB2 from 2012.

Ian Anderson will be accompanied by Tull band musicians David Goodier (bass), John O'Hara (keyboards), Joe Parrish (guitar) and Scott Hammond (drums). The show will be enhanced by full scale video projection.

This is the new rescheduled date from Tuesday 1 October 2020. All tickets, including pre-booked venue parking, will remain valid for the new date even if they have an old date on them.

David Baddiel

Following his five-star Olivier-nominated hit My Family: Not The Sitcom and the return to number 1 of his seminal football anthem Three Lions, David Baddiel comes back to the stage with a brand new one-man show, Trolls: Not The Dolls.

Trolls: the terrible people who spend all day insulting and abusing strangers for no other reason than to fill the huge gaps in their souls. There is a common wisdom about how to deal with trolls: don’t, for goodness sake, encourage these people by replying to them.

It’s a good law. And it’s one that David Baddiel has consistently broken. Because David has always seen trolls as hecklers, and if a comedian gets heckled, it is their duty not to ignore the heckler, but to wittily put them down. Over the years, David has spent a lot of time doing this, which has led him to think that there might be a show in it: a show that would say something about how we live now.

David has stories to tell, of the dark, terrible and hysterically absurd cyber-paths that interacting with trolls has led him down. Come with him on this comedy journey into our culture’s most dank virtual underground. You will come back safe, more able to deflect your own trolls, and only a little bit soiled.

"Boasts side-splitting laughs and also moves people to tears." Evening Standard

"Hugely funny." The Times

"Compelling to watch both for its unvarnished truth and complicated affection." The Guardian

"A show that bubbles with love and unexpected joie de vivre." The Telegraph

Eddi Reader

Eddi Reader is perhaps Scotland’s greatest living female voice and will celebrate her 40th year on stage with a 40 Years Live concert tour.

From her earliest years playing the folk clubs of western Scotland and learning how to street sing across Europe (like her hero Edith Piaf ) Eddi’s path soon led her to a professional career in music as a backing singer for Eurythmics and Gang of Four. Her band Fairground Attraction had huge international success and number one hits with Perfect and debut album First of a Million Kisses which stormed the charts in the late 1980s.

Throughout her successful solo career, Eddi has released consistently great works, including highly acclaimed albums such as The Songs of Robert Burns and last years Cavalier. She has won Brit Awards, been awarded four honorary degrees, an MBE, sung to millions on some of the world’s greatest concert and festival stages and collaborated with a host of stars across a myriad of genres including folk, jazz, pop, world, punk and even classical work with various orchestras.

In 2019 Eddi was invited to be a special guest with Jools Holland’s Rhythm & Blues Orchestra for an extensive tour, she released her Starlight EP, played sold out headline shows and recorded a programme for BBC Radio’s Classic Scottish Album series about her Robert Burns recordings and appeared on BBC Television’s Songs of Praise and as part of Billy Connolly’s Made In Scotland series.

The 40 Years Live concerts promise to be something special, as with any Eddi Reader concert, the magic is being made in the moment, no two concerts ever the same.

"Flawless, not just perfect, world class." R2 Magazine

"Timeless and universal."  The Scotsman

"A voice that floats like honey."
Acoustic

" Eddi has the rare ability to tell personal and often intimate stories, but to leave them open to everyone." Record Collector

"One of my favourite singers of all time." Jools Holland

Albert Camus: The Plague

With our experience of lockdown, it seems appropriate to begin our new season with the wonderful French Nobel Prizewinner Albert Camus and his novel The Plague. Camus was writing about the effects of ‘lockdown’ on a North African town because of an epidemic caused initially by rats. Camus charts so accurately the pain felt by people cut off from their loved ones. We will be in very good company!

An Evening with Peter Schmeichel

Spend an evening with legendary football goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel as he celebrates One: My Autobiography. A serial winner and larger than life character with Manchester United and Denmark, Peter rivalled Gordon Banks and Lev Yashin as the world’s greatest goalkeeper.

Now, for the first time, he’s sharing his journey from part-time footballer in the Danish four tiers to Champions League-winning captain.

In conversation for these exclusive events, Peter will be sharing highlights from his decade playing for Manchester United including that last gasp Treble clinching win over Bayern Munich and stories about Old Trafford’s galaxy of stars and visionary manager. He’ll also discuss his time playing for the Danish national team and their remarkable rise to triumph in the European Football Championship in 1992.

However, Schmeichel’s story is no mere litany of triumphs and household names. He’ll reveal some lesser known details of his life - how he nearly died aged 15, and his turbulent relationship with his father.

Peter's own son Kasper emulated him by winning the Premier League with Leicester in 2016, captaining them to win the FA Cup this season and taking over in Denmark’s goal. It is a proud legacy, ensuring that One: My Autobiography is actually the story of two great goalkeeping Schmeichels.

"A question I’ve been asking myself for years is: why me? How come I could say at eight years of age, I want to play for Denmark, I want to win The FA Cup at Wembley with Manchester United and make it happen? Through writing this book I found some of my answers - and I hope the story of how one little boy from Copenhagen did it might inspire others who want to dream big."

Don’t miss the opportunity to join an undisputed giant of the global game as he explores family, legacy, and a life in football, with astonishing candour.

Dr Hook Starring Dennis Locorriere

USA, 1969.

The country swears in its 37th President, Elvis Presley makes a welcomed comeback, the first man walks on the moon, The Beatles do their last live performance and The Rolling Stones give a free concert that turns violent and symbolises, for many, the end of the sixties.

Somewhere during that tumultuous watershed year, two seasoned musicians from the deep southern states of Mississippi and Alabama made their way up to New Jersey, where they happened upon a considerably younger singer/guitarist. The three hit it off immediately and, with the inclusion of two more members, one from Mississippi and another from New Jersey, began playing together in the loud, rough, frequently dangerous nightclubs in Union City.

By the time Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon, an event they witnessed on a fuzzy little black and white TV screen while taking a fifteen minute break, the band was playing six forty-five minute sets a night, seven nights a week to customers who were there to drink, dance and fight.

The hand-drawn poster taped on the inside of the front window read Dr Hook and The Medicine Show - Tonic For The Soul and it took a mixture of humour, luck and a natural feel for many different types of music, from standards to rock and roll, country to contemporary pop, to keep all those individual souls entertained and, just as importantly, in a good mood.

In the years to follow, the group’s recordings brought them multiple international chart successes for which they were awarded 60 gold and platinum singles and albums and their unique concert performances branded them a top touring act all around the world.

Despite the band having gone through personnel changes over the last half a century, founding member and original lead vocalist, Dennis Locorriere, whose company retains ownership of the trademark name, has made it his goal to keep the music and spirit of Dr Hook alive and well and continuing to make people happy, present day.

The talented, charismatic frontman, with his brilliant group of players and singers, has been bringing that unmistakable Dr Hook sound to sold out audiences all around the world.

Now, to celebrate five decades of timeless music, the band is announcing their 50th Anniversary Tour.

Now, Dr Hook will be on the road again with a spectacular show that will cover their rich musical history, from the biggest hits to album favourites. The reaction to past tours has been glowing and emotional, with people returning again and again.

Dr Hook Starring Dennis Locorriere - The 50th Anniversary Tour is a musical event simply not to be missed!

Laura Marling
Laura Marling is very pleased to share details of a 13 date UK tour for this Autumn.

Having emphatically set the bar for what can be achieved with a superlative livestream performance back in the early Summer of 2020 from London’s Union Chapel, Laura is thrilled to finally be able to take her acclaimed Song For Our Daughter album out on the road.

Laura brought forward the release of Song For Our Daughter in the midst of lockdown last Easter as the pandemic took hold across the globe. It was received with widespread acclaim, and deservedly picked up Mercury Prize and Grammy Award nominations.

Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott

Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott released their new album Manchester Calling in Spring 2020 and will be out on tour in 2021.

Their fourth studio album, boasts all the hallmarks of Heaton’s beautifully bittersweet song writing, effortlessly catchy melodies allied with an everyman’s biting exasperation at the modern world alongside some truly heartfelt love songs.

Paul Heaton, one of the UK’s most successful songwriters with some 15 million album sales under his belt, first came to public attention in the early 80s as front man of Hull-based indie poppers The Housemartins (the same group that spawned Norman 'Fatboy Slim' Cook), best known for their third single Happy Hour and their number one acapella Isley Bros cover Caravan Of Love.

In 1988 Heaton formed The Beautiful South, who released 10 hugely successful albums, Jacqui Abbott was lead vocalist in The Beautiful South from 1994 to 2000 and she sang many of their signature hits including Rotterdam, Perfect 10, Don’t Marry Her and Dream A Little Dream. The Beautiful South called it a day in 2007 citing musical similarities. Since then, the pair have released a number of albums together.

Scouting For Girls

2020 has been an unprecedented year in so many ways. And like many of us, indie-pop band Scouting For Girls initially responded by surrounding themselves with sources of comfort and escapism, things from what felt like a simpler time. Going back to the music and culture of their childhoods in the 1980s, the band regrouped during what should have been a summer of festivals, and the result is a joyous album of 80s covers alongside some incredible new tracks, and an optimism that 2021 can be everything that 2020 was not!

Easy Cover (a pun-tastic title on 80s hero Phil Collins ‘Easy Lover’) was almost titled Scouting For Girls Just Wanna Have Fun as it perfectly encapsulated the spirit of both the album and the bands legendary live shows.

Originally intended as a rather sedate acoustic EP the first recordings were discarded as trying a little too hard to be something different, clever or even dare we say it, a bit serious. As frontman Roy Stride put the project back on the shelf he reminded himself that Scouting for Girls should never try to be serious or clever!

Then came lockdown and for the first time in ages Roy found himself with spare time and an empty studio. In need of some serious cheering up, he reopened the recording sessions, envisaged playing the songs live and stripped away anything that was either too earnest or pretentious.

The result is a fun indie pop reimagining of some of the biggest songs from the 80s. A decade that had it all, from fantastic unashamedly pop masterpieces to incredible indie-alt bands. Easy Cover is a joyous celebration of that golden era of music with Scouting For Girls revisiting their favorite childhood musical moments, from Tears For Fears, The Waterboys, Cyndi Lauper, Whitney Houston, Phil Collins and much more.

"We’re not trying to do justice to these songs! That’s impossible. We’re just trying to have fun and take them out on the road to give people the night out they deserve after 2020!"

However it’s not just covers and Roy (who has songwriting credits with One Direction, Five Seconds of Summer and The Vamps) was soon inspired to write some original material inspired by the decade. Upcoming single I Wish It Was 1989 (An anthem for 2020!) and album closer and new single Xmas In The 80s (A nostalgic longing for when Santa was called Father Christmas) are already set to be Scouting fan favourites and show Roy’s unique songwriting at its very best.

Jason Donovan

Jason Donovan is thrilled to be embarking on a mammoth 48 date tour, which marks the 30th anniversary of his hugely successful debut album Ten Good Reasons. His Even More Good Reasons tour will see Jason singing his greatest pop hits along with his favourite songs from his career in musicals, all accompanied by a full live band.

Jason is back doing what he does best, bringing his energy and exuberance to his army of fans, performing his favourite pop and musical hits in concert across the UK. Don’t miss it!

Jason says, "It’s with a heavy heart that for one final time, we have had to move around some of the Even More Good Reasons shows.

As it stands, not all of our team would have been double vaccinated by the time we were due to start rehearsals. We hoped to have all of our musicians and crew double jabbed by early September so that we have the best chance of not having to cancel any shows during the tour because of Covid.

There will inevitably be some disappointments and there are no words to express how sorry we are, but as you are aware, we are living through the strangest of times, guidelines frequently changing, and our options under the circumstances are limited. We hope as many of you as possible will still be able to get to a show. And what a show it will be once we eventually get to put that curtain up!"

PALOMA FAITH

Paloma Faith has announced a nationwide tour for September - October 2021 in support of her upcoming album, Infinite Things.

Paloma wrote most of the songs for Infinite Things before the Covid-19 pandemic swept the world. Then we went into lockdown, and she ripped them all up and started afresh. She spent her downtime creating, learning to engineer her own music and just thinking about the world. The enforced downtime was creatively fruitful and taught her that she had been on a sort of conveyor belt of music and promo. The lockdown gave her the space to take stock of her frenetic career, and decide what is meaningful to her. She is emerging from lockdown with a new sense of her priorities which has seen her reconnect with her roots steeped in creativity.

Infinite Things saw Paloma work with a small group of long-time and new collaborators including the producers Patrick Wimberly and Detonate, songwriters Ed Harcourt, Starsmith, Tre Jean Marie alongside the producer and songwriter MNEK and friend Josef Salvat. This record is more than an album about relationships. It’s a rumination on sickness and loss. It’s about finding your way back to romance within a long-term relationship. It’s her most confident record yet from a female artist who’s been in the game for two decades.

This is a new Paloma Faith, an artist who has retreated within herself and found not the careful, polished veteran of show business - but the 22-year-old art student being led by her own creativity.

Philharmonia Orchestra: New World Symphony

Santtu-Matias Rouvali conductor

MENDELSSOHN Overture, The Hebrides
BRUCH Scottish Fantasy
DVOŘÁK Symphony No. 9: From the New World

Be part of the Philharmonia’s spectacular return to Leicester as they perform Dvořák’s best-loved symphony under the baton of their new Principal Conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali.

Celebrating the start of his tenure as just the sixth Principal Conductor in the Orchestra’s 75-year history, Santtu launches the Philharmonia’s thrilling new Leicester season with their first performance at De Montfort Hall in almost two years.

Joining Santtu, soloist Jack Liebeck takes centre stage in an opening half celebrating the rugged landscapes and Celtic culture of Scotland. In Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy, a solemn brass opening gives way to a spellbinding melody for the violin soloist, the first of four beautiful traditional folk songs that underpin the piece. Ranging from effortless virtuosity to tender interplay with the harp, it’s easy to see why almost 150 years after it was written, it remains one of the world’s most popular works for violin.

After the interval we venture across the Atlantic for that timeless masterpiece, Dvořák’s New World Symphony. Blending his trademark Czech style with the Native American music and African-American spirituals Dvořák came to love and admire during his time in the United States, the symphony packs drama, excitement and hope into one unforgettable work. No one could have imagined during lockdown that the pandemic would keep the Philharmonia from its Leicester home for so long – but with the quietly optimistic melody of the Largo in our ears, there could surely be no better way for them to return.

Collabro

Collabro – Michael Auger, Jamie Lambert, Matthew Pagan and Thomas J Redgave - are the world’s most successful musical theatre group. Having met for their first rehearsal in a pub at London Bridge in 2014, they auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent a month later and received a full standing ovation from both the audience and the judges after their performance. They went on to win the competition with one of the biggest majorities ever, and their debut album Stars entered the UK albums chart at number one, was quickly certified gold, and became the fastest selling album in 2014.

Four sell out UK tours, two US tours, headline slots at the London Palladium, Wembley Stadium, the Royal Albert Hall, the 02 Arena and a show for Her Majesty The Queen later, COLLABRO have announced the release of their fifth album ‘Love Like This’ on November 15th 2019, through BMG. They will take the new album out to their fans with a full UK tour in 2021.

A hand picked selection of their favourite contemporary songs, Love Like This includes Coldplay’s Fix You as an instant grat track (“We know that everyone thinks of something different when they hear this song and we used our voices to act as the majority of instruments to put our unique spin on it”), Keane’s Somewhere Only We Know (“We sang this song on our second UK tour but it’s never been on an album and we still love it now”), Ellie Goulding’s Love Me Like You Do (“This is for all our fans who have been asking for a wedding song!”) and Lewis Capaldi’s Someone You Loved (“When we heard Lewis sing this for the first time we were all together. We looked at each other and just knew it was a song we wanted to sing. The melody is beautiful and everyone can relate to the lyrics”).

Collabro are looking forward to taking Love Like This live to their fans in 2021.

Collabro will be joined by local choir Leicester Theatre Group.

Fisherman's Friends
Britain’s oldest boy band emerge from lockdown and hit the road as The Fisherman’s Friends – combined age 401 (and three-quarters) – announce their Unlocked and Unleashed tour for 2021.

Thanks to the small film with a big heart that shares their name, the story of the original Cornish buoy band is known around the world – bound by shared experience, for 40 years they have met on the Platt on the harbour in their native Port Isaac to sing the songs of the sea.

“And now we can’t wait to show the rest of the country what they’ve been missing – singing live is in our blood, almost as much as the sea,” says extravagantly moustachioed MC and bass man Jon Cleave.

Starring Daniel Mays, James Purefoy, Tuppence Middleton and Noel Clarke with cameo appearances from the group whose voices also appear on the soundtrack, Fisherman’s Friends took $10 million at the box office and saw the boys perform at the 2019 Cannes film festival as well as sell out another UK tour.

This year, despite the best efforts of the global pandemic, the boys have kept fans entertained in lockdown posting weekly songs and poems on their YouTube series Mares Tales and Mackerel Scales. They also played sell out summer shows at Cornwall’s iconic Minack Theatre and performed at screenings of the film at the Wavelength Drive-In Cinema in Watergate Bay.

Next year filming begins on Fisherman’s Friends 2 as the boys return to the studio to record a new album, the follow up to the hit soundtrack album Keep Hauling that is well on its way to Gold sales.

Cornwall’s best-known musical export, a decade ago The Fisherman’s Friends were persuaded to sign the million-pound record deal that saw their album Port Isaac’s Fisherman’s Friends go Gold as they became the first ever traditional folk act to land a UK top ten album. Since then they’ve sang at HM The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, played Glastonbury festival and been honoured with the Good Tradition Award at the prestigious BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. They’ve also been the subject of an ITV documentary, released the hit albums One and All (2013), Proper Job (2015) and Sole Mates (2018) and continued to play to tens of thousands of fans at home and abroad.

The Fisherman’s Friends are: lobster fisherman Jeremy Brown; writer/ shopkeeper Jon Cleave; smallholder and engineer John ‘Lefty’ Lethbridge; builder John McDonnell (a Yorkshireman who visited Port Isaac more than 30 years ago and never left); Padstow fisherman Jason Nicholas; film maker Toby Lobb and the new boy, former ambulance driver Pete Hicks.

Philharmonia Orchestra: Mozart

András Schiff conductor/piano

MOZART Piano Concerto No. 9
MOZART Symphony No. 36, Linz
MOZART Overture, Don Giovanni
MOZART Piano Concerto No. 20

A chance to hear one of the world’s greatest living pianists live in concert as Sir András Schiff performs and conducts an evening of Mozart masterpieces.

Famed for his understated, lyrical virtuosity, Schiff’s performances have been celebrated across the world: "He found song where others find formula; he conveyed song where others play scales", Los Angeles Times. Bookending tonight’s programme, he play-directs two of Mozart’s best-loved piano concertos.

Overflowing with youthful joy, the Ninth Piano Concerto has been described as one of the first masterpieces of the Classical style. Through charming dialogue between the piano and orchestra it unfolds with an exquisite delicacy.

Completing the Philharmonia’s concert, the 20th Piano Concerto is a completely different experience despite being written just seven years later. Dark, turbulent and filled with furious energy it offers a real tour de force for the soloist – though at its heart lies a tender romance in the second movement. But the drama of the storm quickly returns, building the excitement until a glorious, jubilant final melody rounds off the evening.
Framed by the two concertos, Schiff conducts Mozart’s Symphony No. 36, one of the composer’s most enduring works. Showcasing Mozart’s effortless ear for melody, the piece offers us one of the most optimistic pieces of music imaginable. From fanfare-inspired majesty to lyrical strings, it presents a ray of sunshine before we head into winter.

Back is billed as Old Songs, New Songs, F*** You Songs, with a set list of material from all corners of Minchin’s eclectic – and often iconoclastic – repertoire. First performed in the UK in 2019, Back was Tim’s first UK tour in eight years and the 80,000 tickets sold out over a year in advance. The long-awaited return to the stage received rave reviews and saw Tim pick up a prestigious Helpmann Award for Best Australian Contemporary Concert.

Minchin has been celebrated globally for writing the music and lyrics for Matilda the Musical, which has gone on to become one of the most acclaimed musicals of the last 20 years, winning a record seven Olivier Awards, 13 Helpmann Awards and five Tony Awards. He also wrote music and lyrics for the musical adaption of Groundhog Day, which after an acclaimed limited run at The Old Vic in London in 2016, debuted on Broadway in April 2017 and won the Olivier Award for Best Musical in 2017.

Since his return to stage Tim starred in the ABC comedy series Squinters and appeared as Friar Tuck in the Hollywood release of Robin Hood. He also starred in Upright, the award winning eight-part drama series which he co-wrote with The Chaser’s Chris Taylor, actor-writers Leon Ford and Kate Mulvaney, and co-produced with Lingo Pictures for Foxtel and Sky UK.

In November 2020, Tim released his first studio solo album Apart Together. Described as crisply observed and tenderly considered in The Independent, the album reached No. three in the ARIA charts. On the eve of the release Tim and his band streamed a live performance of the full album to a worldwide audience and critical acclaim.

The Stranglers

The Stranglers have announced their final full UK tour, now scheduled for March/April 2021, after which time they then intend to take a step back from extensive tours.

The Final Full UK Tour consists of a mammoth 22 date itinerary including dates across Wales, Scotland and England.

Special guests for the complete tour are fan favourites Ruts DC.

Artist statement:
"We are, once again, incredibly saddened to confirm that we have had no alternative but to reschedule the planned 2021 spring tour. This decision has not been taken lightly, especially as the tour has already been moved back, but the ongoing issues surrounding the Covid pandemic are continuing to play havoc with live music. Due to the uncertainty around the tightening of lockdown regulations in the UK and the rollout of the vaccinations over the coming months, it was decided that the tour should be postponed until early 2022. It has been an immense challenge to move the tour again but ultimately we are determined to make it happen as planned from the outset. After almost a year of inactivity on the road, the band are all chomping at the bit to get back to playing live but their safety, as well as that of the crew and fans, is of paramount importance. All purchased tickets remain valid for the new dates. We hope you understand that we have been left with no other choice and, believe us, we share your disappointment. Look forward to seeing you all on the road next year."

Status Quo

Britain’s best-loved rockers Status Quo are coming back to reclaim their position on the live circuit with a brand new tour.

In September 2019, QUO performed a triumphant set at the massive Radio 2 Festival in a Day event in London’s Hyde Park in front of 65,000 fans. That turned out to be their last UK show as the Backbone Winter Tour of 2020 was cancelled in its entirety due to Covid-19.  Now,  Status Quo are delighted to be able to announce their long overdue return to the stage with the Out Out Quoing tour.

Francis Rossi said, "We cannot wait to play again. Every gig is special for Quo but it’s been too long since we got to play anywhere. Going out is something that we all took for granted. Not any more. Going out, going out properly – 'going out out', as some would have it - became a bit of dream but now that dream can come true. The name of the tour is a bit of humour, but a celebration too. However, I’d urge fans not to overthink it and just prepare for all the hits and some serious live music energy!"

Status Quo is a band known for their live performances across their incredible fifty year career, it’s time to get back to doing what they do best. After such an unwanted layoff, the band is more ready than ever, making the Out Out Quoing tour unmissable.

James Morrison

2022 will see James Morrison tour the UK for the first time in two-and-a-half years when he hits the road with his first ever ‘Greatest Hits’ tour. Featuring his five unforgettable Top 10 hits (‘You Give Me Something’, ‘Wonderful World’, ‘You Make It Real’, ‘Broken Strings’ and ‘I Won’t Let You Go’) together with a selection of fan favourites, the tour represents a life-affirming celebration of a remarkable career that has spanned 15 years.

James Morrison commented, “It’s been way too long since I saw you all and I’m so excited to announce these special shows.

Playing live is something I have really missed in the past year and seeing as it’s been nearly 15 years since I started, many of my songs over time have taken on a new life of their own:  new emotions, new meanings and new feels in the way my band has played them. I’ve also become a better singer and inhabit the songs in a different way now. I wanted to reflect all of that on this Greatest Hits tour.

I am buzzing to be back in a room with all my fans sharing my best songs. I can’t wait to see you all, it’s going to be amazing!”

The tour announcement coincides with the 15th anniversary of the release of James’s debut album ‘Undiscovered’ in July 2016. Featuring his breakthrough smash hits ‘You Give Me Something’ and ‘Wonderful World’, the album became one of the biggest of the decade, first debuting with two weeks at #1 and later reaching 5x Platinum status in recognition of 1.5 million domestic sales. The following year he won the BRIT Award for British Male Solo Artist, an accolade he was nominated for on another two occasions.

His success has continued throughout the four albums that followed, notably with 2011’s #1 ‘The Awakening’ and his most recent set, 2019’s raw and revealing ‘You’re Stronger Than You Know’. Throughout the course of his career, James has collaborated with high profile talents such as Gary Barlow, Nelly Furtado, Joss Stone and OneRepublic.

James recently joined his musical hero Paul Weller for a Live From The Barbican show, which was broadcast on Radio 2, 6 Music and BBC Two. Accompanied by Jules Buckley and the BBC Symphony Orchestra, their soulful performance of the ‘Stanley Road’ classic ‘Broken Stones’ proved to be a highlight of the set. Weller chose their collaboration to be the lead single from his upcoming album, ‘An Orchestrated Songbook’, which documents the performance and will be released on December 3rd.

As his huge and loyal following continues with 4.3 million monthly listeners at Spotify, expect more news from James later this summer.

Tony Hadley

One of the most renowned voices in British music, Tony Hadley, has announced a huge UK tour for 2022, celebrating a remarkable 40 years in music.

Celebrating four decades since Tony first released music with his former band Spandau Ballet (originally planned for 2020), the tour, which will see Tony perform with his band The Fabulous TH Band, across the country.

Tony’s unmistakeable voice still brims with passion and urgency as it first did all those years ago. Fitting for what will be a big celebration of one of the biggest voices in pop, Tony will perform tracks from across his career both as the voice of Spandau Ballet, and as a solo artist.

From his beginnings at the forefront of the New Romantic movement, Tony earned himself the accolade of being one of pop’s greatest vocalists. Spandau Ballet had numerous chart-topping singles and albums all over the world, including the epic Through the Barricades, the international number one True, and the unofficial London Olympics theme Gold.

As a solo artist Tony has performed across the world both with his band, swing bands, and orchestras. In 2005 he was awarded a Gold Badge from the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters; whilst 2007 saw him win a new legion of fans when he appeared as Billy Flynn in Chicago on the West End stage.

In 2018 Tony released his highly anticipated solo album Talking To The Moon, The album was incredibly well received and became BBC Radio 2’s Album Of The Week and the first single Tonight Belongs To Us was Single Of The Week.

Last year Tony released the brand new single Obvious, co-written with Talking To The Moon Mick Lister, which was again playlisted on BBC Radio 2.

Alongside his music career, not to mention his work in broadcasting on both radio and TV, Tony received an MBE in December 2019 in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List for his charitable work for the Shooting Star Children’s Hospice.

Tony presents a live Sunday morning radio show on BBC 3 Counties Radio, and started a podcast and Youtube channel in July 2020 called Stars Cars Guitars with Jim Cregan (award-winning rock guitarist, songwriter and producer) and Alex Dyke (veteran British broadcaster on the tv and radio). The podcast features the trio talking about rock and roll adventures, their favourite cars and tales of the stars and friends they met on the way; and touches upon the themes of success, fame, family, laughter, memories and dreams.

At the start of 1981, Ultravox were laying their claim to be one of the defining acts of the 80s following the global success of hit Vienna. Heading back into the studio the same year invigorated, they recorded their second album with Ure as frontman, Rage in Eden, which hit the top five in the UK album charts. Quartet, their third album with Ure, came in quick succession in 1982 with production from legendary Beatles producer George Martin. The Nutcracker

Performed by the Russian State Ballet of Siberia and accompanied by the Russian State Ballet Orchestra.

This most famous of fantasy ballets for all the family begins as night falls on Christmas Eve.  As snowflakes fall outside, the warm glow of the open fire sends flickering shadows across the boughs of the Christmas tree and all the presents beneath. When midnight strikes we are swept away to a fairy-tale world where nothing is quite as it seems, toy dolls spring to life off the set, the Mouse-king and his mouse-army battle with the Nutcracker Prince and we travel through the Land of Snow to an enchanted place where the magic really begins...

The critics said…
‘…the scenery turned the stage into a winter wonderland’

Touring across the UK with a full company of dancers as well as highly skilled musicians is always exciting, for me, it is very special to have the power of a symphony orchestra bringing the choreography to life on stage,"

Diversity

After nine sell out UK tours, over 600,000 tickets sold, and countless television and live performances Diversity have announced one of their biggest UK tours to date including two dates at London Palladium for spring 2021.

Last year marked 10 years since Diversity took the nation by storm when they won the third series of Britain’s Got Talent. Over the past 10 years thanks to the overwhelming support of their fans and the British public they have continued to wow audiences around the world with their innovative live tours and performances. They celebrated this incredible achievement with a critically acclaimed sell out 48 show UK tour, Born Ready.

This tour is set to be even bigger, and as Diversity promised their fans on the Born Ready tour, they will continue the legacy of Diversity and never let anyone tell them they cannot achieve something. To take them into the new decade of Diversity, Ashley has created a new show, Connected, which centres around the world of social media, the internet, and the digital era we now live in, but more importantly how this connects us all.

Creator and choreographer Ashley Banjo said of the forthcoming tour, "Every year that goes by, and every time we get to create a new touring show, I cannot believe we are still lucky enough to get to do this. But even after all this time, we are still growing, and this new decade and new chapter for Diversity is sure to be something even more special than the last. I truly do believe that we are all connected in mores ways than one and I cannot wait to bring this to life on stage."

Ashley Banjo has returned to the judging panel for his third series on ITV’s primetime show Dancing on Ice, the final airs this Sunday on ITV with fellow Diversity member Perri Kiely competing for the winner’s trophy. Ashley has also hosted, choreographed and starred in the BAFTA nominated The Real Full Monty (2017-2019) and International Emmy Award, Broadcast Award, and Royal Television Society award winning The Real Full Monty: Ladies Night (2018) and (2019). Ashley’s show Flirty Dancing on Channel 4 completed it second hit series last December.

Fellow Diversity member Jordan Banjo is currently hosting the second series of BBC 1’s primetime show The Greatest Dancer.

Diversity continue to inspire the next generation of dancers and cannot wait to launch their online dance classes 20DV and return to Butlins this summer to showcase their 20DV experience dance academies.

Philharmonia Orchestra: Russian Masterworks

Stanislav Kochanovsky conductor
Gil Shaham violin

BORODIN ‘Polovtsian Dances’ from Prince Igor
PROKOFIEV Violin Concerto No. 2
MUSSORGSKY Pictures at an Exhibition

Join the Philharmonia for a spring evening celebrating Russia’s timeless classical music tradition in a programme welcoming violinist Gil Shaham to the De Montfort Hall stage.

The American violinist returns to Leicester for the first time in 12 years with one of the most popular concertos in the repertoire. Prokofiev’s Second Violin Concerto evokes its Russian heritage from the start, with a folk-inspired melody that weaves through the entire piece, capturing the full emotional range of the instrument along the way. From that graceful tune to spellbinding virtuosity, the music finally makes its way to Spain, where the original Russian melody finds itself joined by sprightly castanets for a fiery finale.

Framing the programme, two works filled to the brim with instantly recognisable tunes used across the world in everything from adverts to film soundtracks. Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances form the stunning finale to Act Two of his unfinished opera Prince Igor, bringing to life a roaring celebration of the villainous Khan Konchak. Equally vivid, Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition images the listener stepping into the worlds of a series of paintings in a gallery. Led by the stately Promenade theme as we wander past the canvases, each movement evokes a new tableau, from grand castles to adorable baby chicks dancing inside their eggs.

Our evening comes to a close as we head from a journey deep into gloomy catacombs to a devilish witch’s hut on chicken legs, before finally bursting into radiant golden sunshine as we hear the majestic final theme of the Great Gate of Kiev – this concert will leave you humming melodies for days.

Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets

Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets
featuring Gary Kemp, Guy Pratt, Lee Harris and Dom Beken.

Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets played their first gigs at four intimate and acclaimed live shows at London’s Dingwalls (20 May 2018) and The Half Moon in Putney (21, 23 and 24 May 2018), these were Nick Mason’s first live musical outings since Pink Floyd's Division Bell Tour in 1994, and the show at Dingwalls was his first since Pink Floyd played at the 2005 Live 8 concert in London.

The band went on to sell out theatres around the world including three nights at London’s Roundhouse, where Pink Floyd played some of their most revered early shows in the 1960’s. The 2021 tour will see the band further expand their repertoire and will play songs from Pink Floyd's early catalogue up to the 1972 album Obscured by Clouds.

On 12 September, Nick Mason was named Prog Magazine’s Prog God at the prestigious Progressive Music Awards at the Shakespeares Globe Theatre, previous recipients include Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Jon Anderson, Rick Wakeman, Ian Anderson, Carl Palmer and Steve Howe.

"This was the most extraordinary and joyous show, a reminder of what a peculiar and brilliant band Pink Floyd were... If you have the slightest interest in Pink Floyd, do not miss this group… You won’t even need acid to blow your mind." ***** Michael Hann, Financial Times

"The sound was immense, electrifying, galvanising, mesmerising and still deeply strange, bending the formats of primal rock into all kind of weird and wonderful shapes.... it was a set of such startling intensity it seemed to mock the very notion of nostalgia. It was enough to make you wonder whether rock has progressed very far at all since the Sixties." **** Neil McCormick, The Daily Telegraph

"This show with him (Nick Mason) at its centre, is a fantastic voyage of rediscovery." **** David Bennun, Metro

Michael Kiwanuka

Michael Kiwanuka released his stunning third album, Kiwanuka, in 2019 and will be out on the road with the first UK shows.

Kiwanuka is the follow up to Michael’s number one album, Love and Hate, released back in July 2016 that resonated broadly both critically and in the public’s affections, netting the British musician his second Mercury Prize nomination and his second and third BRIT nominations too.

Recorded in New York, LA and London, Michael returned to the studio with Danger Mouse and Inflo, the same production team that combined so magnificently on Love and Hate, Kiwanuka finds a new assuredness in Michael’s writing, and takes the basic sonic blueprint of that last record to a dizzying new realm.

Where Love and Hate showcased Michael’s prowess with a guitar, Kiwanuka showcases an ear for musical adventure. Themes that resonated so loudly previously return here, namely Michael’s life-long confusion and questioning of his own identity, but also that of hope and of power. That Michael has spent the past year or two writing and nurturing the record, whilst also finding a newly discovered love for documenting his life behind a lens, lends itself to the suggestion of an artist putting a microscope on his own life.

Whilst many of his new findings are layered beneath a warm fuzz of instrumentation, Kiwanuka is Michael serving from the heart, from the mind, and from the soul.

Michael explains: "The last album came from an introspective place and felt like therapy, I guess. This one is more about feeling comfortable in who I am and asking what I want to say. Like, how could I be bold and challenge myself and the listener? It is about self-acceptance in a more triumphant rather than melancholy way. It’s an album that explores what it means to be a human being today.

When I first signed a record deal, people would ask me, ‘So what are you going to be called?’. And I never thought of that; calling myself Johnny Thunders or whatever, like singers from the past. So, on this album it’s kind of a defiant thing; I’m engaging with who I am and I’m not going to have an alter ego, or become Sasha Fierce or Ziggy Stardust, even though everyone's telling me I need to be this, that or the other. I can just be Michael Kiwanuka."

Artist statement:
“Hi Folks,

I want you all to know that it truly is an understatement when I say how much I’ve missed seeing you out on the road at shows. I was so excited to give you Kiwanuka live. Myself and the band had been working hard to put together a live show that reflects how much your love and support means to me.

However, even though we’ve been receiving some very good news through the vaccine, and we can now see the light at the end of the tunnel, I will sadly still have to postpone the planned UK tour.

I want to make sure that we are all 100% safe when the shows go ahead. I also want to be able to put on a show that I’ve always dreamed of, to realise the show to its fullest potential. For these reasons I’ll be postponing the shows to May 2022.

I say this with a heavy heart, and there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think about how grateful I will be when we can finally experience the joy of live music again. I cannot wait to see you. Until then, thank you so much for your patience and for your continued love and support. Please be well. I’m sending you all love, and wishing you good health in this difficulty time.

Best,

Mike Kiwanuka”

Philharmonia Orchestra: Mendelssohn & Sibelius

Ross Jamie Collins conductor
Randall Goosby violin

NIELSEN Helios Overture
MENDELSSOHN Violin Concerto
SIBELIUS Symphony No. 2

Celebrate the warmth of spring as the Philharmonia closes its Leicester season with the beautiful melodies of Mendelssohn’s life-affirming Violin Concerto paired with Sibelius’s best-loved symphony.

Appearing centre-stage is violinist Randall Goosby, whose meteoric career launched as a protege of violin legend Itzhak Perlman. Having taken the world by storm ever since, he makes his Leicester debut with Mendelssohn’s stunning Violin Concerto. Filled with stormy emotion, unforgettable melodies and electrifying virtuosity, Mendelssohn’s masterly work delights wherever it is performed.

Completing the programme is Sibelius’s Second Symphony. While the first notes came to him during a happy period spent in Italy, the piece is filled with the unmistakeable sound of Sibelius’s Finnish homeland. Lush, flowing melodies in the strings balance against soulful solo moments for each instrument of the woodwind section, evoking green forests and icy landscapes. While the second movement sees a cold, austere walking bass line underpin a melancholy mood, the music gradually builds in energy as it launches into a feverishly intense third movement. But finishing the concert – and the Philharmonia’s entire season in its Leicester residency – a towering brass finale provides a majestic send-off.

The Hollies: The 60th Anniversary Tour

One of the most iconic bands in British music, The Hollies, have moved  their UK tour originally scheduled for Autumn 2021 to next year, in order to celebrate their 60th anniversary.

The band said:
"We felt like this is something no other band gets to do, celebrate six decades together, 60 years of these songs that mean so much to us and so many others. We’re incredibly excited performing for everyone on what will be some of the most special shows in the history of The Hollies."

All previously purchased tickets are still valid for the new dates.

Famed for their soaring, distinctive melodies and brilliantly crafted songs, the 60th anniversary tour will see The Hollies performing their best known hits including He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother, The Air That I Breathe, Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress), Bus Stop, Carrie-Anne and Sorry Suzanne.

The line-up includes powerhouse drummer Bobby Elliott, and singer, songwriter, and lead guitarist Tony Hicks, both of whom are original members of the band. They are joined by lead singer Peter Howarth, as well as bass player Ray Stiles, Keyboardist Ian Parker, and Steve Lauri on Rhythm Guitar.

Celebrated as one of the most influential bands from the 1960s British Invasion era alongside the likes of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, the Hollies have had over 20 world-wide hits, including number one singles in both the US and UK. They have spent an astonishing 263 weeks in the UK top 40 official singles chart, and have been performing continuously since their formation in 1962.

Their cultivated musicianship, coupled with the Hollies’ extensive back catalogue of memorable rock ‘n’ roll tunes, has ensured the longevity of one of the greatest groups to emerge from the early 1960’s British Rock Revolution.

In 1995, they were bestowed the coveted Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution To British Music, and in 2010 were inducted into the American Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame for their ‘impact on the evolution, development and perpetuation of Rock and Roll’.

10cc

10cc’s upcoming tour has been rescheduled into 2022. The band will be performing the hits which have singled them out as one of the most inventive and influential bands in the history of popular music.

Marking the 45th anniversary of the release of their mega hit I’m Not In Love, which landed the band a top five single in 10 countries and spawned a number one album in the US.

Led by co-founder Graham Gouldman, the art-pop band are heralded in equal measure for their ability to craft ingenious songs that also resonated commercially, with eleven top 10 hits, and over 15 million albums sold in the UK alone. The group also have three number one singles to their name – Rubber Bullets, Dreadlock Holiday and I’m Not In Love.

The line-up features Gouldman (bass, guitar, vocals), Rick Fenn (lead guitar, bass, vocals), Paul Burgess (drums, percussion) – both of whom have been with the band since the early years - Keith Hayman (keyboards, guitars, bass, vocals) and Iain Hornal (vocals, percussion, guitar, keyboards).

In recent years, 10cc have toured worldwide, including Australia, Japan, Iceland, New Zealand, across the UK and Europe. They’ve performed at the 65,000 capacity British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park, and sold out London’s 5,200 seat Royal Albert Hall in advance last year.

It has been an eventful few years for Graham Gouldman. Not only is 10cc enjoying increasing success around the world, but recognition of his solo achievements has grown too.

Being invited by Ringo Starr to join his All Starr Band for tours of Europe in June 2018 and the USA that September, during which the band played three 10cc songs, elevated his profile yet further.

This is the new rescheduled date from Monday 19 April 2021.

All tickets, including pre-booked venue parking, will remain valid for the new date. If you need to contact us to discuss your booking please email dmh-office@leicester.gov.uk

Blue Öyster Cult

For over four decades, Blue Oyster Cult has been thrilling fans of intelligent hard rock worldwide with powerful albums loaded with classic songs. Indeed, the Long Island, New York based band is revered within the hard rock and heavy metal scene for its pioneering work. Blue Oyster Cult occupies a unique place in rock history because it's one of very few hard rock/heavy metal bands to earn both genuine mainstream critical acclaim as well as commercial success.

The band is often cited as a major influence by other acts such as Metallica, and Blue Oyster Cult was listed in VH1's countdown of the greatest hard rock bands of all time.

Upon the release of Blue Oyster Cult's self‐titled debut album in 1972, the band was praised for its catchy-yet-heavy music and lyrics that could be provocative, terrifying, funny or ambiguous, often all in the same song.

Blue Oyster Cult's canon includes three stone cold classic songs that will waft through the cosmos long after the sun has burned out: The truly haunting (Don't Fear) The Reaper from 1976's Agents of Fortune, the pummeling Godzilla from 1977's Spectres and the hypnotically melodic Burnin' for You from1981's Fire of Unknown Origin.

Other notable Blue Oyster Cult's songs include Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll, Then Came the Last Days of May, I Love the Night, In Thee, Veteran of the Psychic Wars, Dominance and Submission, Astronomy, Black Blade and Shooting Shark.

The intense creative vision of Blue Oyster Cult's original core duo of vocalist/lead guitarist Donald Buck Dharma Roeser, and vocalist/rhythm guitarist Eric Bloom are complemented by Richie Castellano on guitar and keyboards, and the longtime rhythm section of bass guitarist Danny Miranda, and drummer Jules Radino.

"We realized we're a classic rock band. That's what we are, that's what we do best, that's what we know." The band members are proud of Blue Oyster Cult classic sound, and pleased the band is creating vibrant work for disenfranchised music lovers who don't like the homogenized, prefabricated pop or sound alike, formulaic rap metal, which monopolizes the radio airwaves and bestseller charts.

Blue Oyster Cult has always maintained a relentless touring schedule that brings new songs and classics to original fans and, as Bloom puts it, "Teenagers with green hair."
